Thierry Mugler founded his avant-garde fashion house in 1973, known for sculptural, theatrical designs. He entered fragrance in 1992 with Angel, developed with perfumers Olivier Cresp and Yves de Chiris after more than 600 tests — the first "gourmand" fragrance, built on sweet, edible notes like cotton candy, caramel, and praline balanced by patchouli, housed in a refillable star-shaped bottle. Angel single-handedly created a new fragrance category, and the house followed it with Alien in 2005, an equally bold, mineral-jasmine composition that became another modern signature.
