Ted Lapidus (born Edmond Lapidus in Paris, 1929) trained under Christian Dior before launching his own fashion label in 1951, becoming known for popularizing unisex style and military-inspired designs worn by Brigitte Bardot, Twiggy, and the Beatles. Lapidus partnered with L'Oréal in 1970 to launch his first fragrances, and the house's couture division closed in 2000 to focus entirely on fragrance and accessories. Ted Lapidus fragrances are now produced under the Jacques Bogart Group, carrying forward the brand's Parisian, modern-classic identity.
