Perry Ellis founded his eponymous American fashion house in 1978, becoming known for playful, wearable sportswear that broke from the era's more formal traditions and earned him eight Coty Awards. The brand launched its first fragrances, Perry Ellis for Women and Perry Ellis for Men, in 1985, shortly before Ellis's death in 1986. The house has since built a large fragrance portfolio — including the long-running 18 and 360° collections — continuing under Perry Ellis International with contributions from designers like Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford over the years.
