Nautica was founded in 1983 by Taiwanese-American designer David Chu, who built the brand around a maritime aesthetic — clean nautical style inspired by sailing and coastal living. Nautica launched its first fragrance, Nautica for Men, in 1992, translating its ocean-and-sail DNA into fresh, aquatic scents housed in signature striped-sailboat bottles. The brand's fragrance line, including Voyage and Blue, is produced in partnership with Coty and remains one of its most recognizable product categories.
