Christian Dior founded his fashion house in Paris in 1946, and his revolutionary "New Look" collection debuted on February 12, 1947, at 30 Avenue Montaigne — the same day the house's first fragrance, Miss Dior, was introduced. The scent was named for Christian's sister Catherine, a French Resistance member who survived deportation to Ravensbrück. Dior has since built one of fragrance's most iconic catalogs, from Eau Sauvage (1966) to Sauvage (2015), now among the best-selling men's fragrances worldwide, developed under longtime in-house perfumer François Demachy.
