Alfred Dunhill began in London in 1893 when 21-year-old Alfred Dunhill took over his father's saddlery business and pivoted it toward the emerging automobile trade, later expanding into tobacco with a Duke Street shop in 1907. The luxury menswear house launched its first fragrance, Dunhill for Men, in 1934, created by Alfred's sister Mary Dunhill. Now part of Richemont, Dunhill's fragrance line is produced under license by Inter Parfums, carrying forward the brand's understated British luxury.
